Billing and reimbursement

We can bill commercial Kaiser Permanente directly for gender-affirming electrolysis with an approved Gender Pathways referral.

Blue Shark Electrolysis is not able to bill all insurance plans directly at this time. We can provide invoices for your appointments so you may request reimbursement from your insurer, if your plan allows it. Coverage, referral approvals, and reimbursement decisions are made by your insurance provider.

Financial Hardship Policy

Blue Shark Electrolysis may offer discounted self-pay rates to clients experiencing barriers to accessing gender affirming care.

Financial hardship discounts are available only to uninsured or underinsured clients and are subject to availability and practice capacity.

Eligibility may consider income, employment status, medical expenses, insurance coverage, and other circumstances affecting a client's ability to access gender affirming care.

Discounts are not guaranteed, may be limited to a specific number of appointments or treatment hours, and may be periodically reviewed. Blue Shark Electrolysis reserves the right to modify or discontinue a hardship discount based on changes in financial circumstances or availability.

This program applies only to self-pay services not otherwise covered by insurance and cannot be applied to insurance copays, coinsurance, or deductibles.
